Time Magazine wants to ban the word 'feminist' and the internet isn't happy

The magazine is holding a poll on words that “should be banned”.

TIME MAGAZINE IS currently holding a poll of words we should ban in 2015.

The usual offenders are present on the list – obvi, bae, basic – but there’s one word on the list that has caused a few raised eyebrows.

And that word is ‘feminist’.

Their rationale for including it on the list?

You have nothing against feminism itself, but when did it become a thing that every celebrityhad to statetheir position on whether this word applies to them, like some politician declaring a party? Let’s stick to the issues and quit throwing this label around like ticker tape at a Susan B. Anthony parade.

Many have pointed out the hypocrisy of this as Time previously published an article about actress Shailene Woodley’s controversial stance on feminism.

The move has rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way.

Katy Steinmetz, the author of the piece, defended the word’s inclusion on the list, noting that she was opposed to “media trends” as opposed to feminism itself.

As for the poll itself? ‘Bae’ is currently leading the charge, followed by ‘feminist’ and ‘om nom nom nom’.

We’re just going to look at this for a minute.
